This custom trailer delivers a real jackpot of stability

Sometimes, it’s not enough for our custom trailers to move forward. We like ‘em to go up and down and sideways, too.

Take this special drop deck trailer we recently designed for a Fortune 150 energy company. The customer needed something more stable than the homemade number they were using to haul 35,000-pound motors throughout their facility. So they called on Hamilton to devise a new solution that could navigate the tight turns on their factory floors, which are covered with removable hatchways.

Onward, upward and sideways forever.

The new trailer had to be safe enough to stay put during on- and off-loading of such heavy cargo. So we got creative and incorporated adjustable stabilizing jacks at each corner of the trailer drop deck. Next, we added lockouts at the rear fifth wheel assembly so the trailer could be crabbed at pre-set turning angles up to 15 degrees. Whenever faced with a tricky turn, handlers can lock the running gear and move the cart forward, or change the pin location so the trailer can slide sideways and keep productivity rolling.
