This cart is unique, yet the concept could easily be used in any number of applications. Its owner ordered it to move raw steel bar stock around the plant efficiently and safely. The cart is designed with a lowered middle support which allows it to fit under an existing material loader, The open middle base permits workers to get close to the material when manually loading or unloading stock, decreasing bending and reaching. The 3 vertical racks are sloped to secure the loads and have tabs for added security while moving.
The permanent, reinforced handle is extended back from the end to permit longer materials, with a special plate to protect knees from hitting the steel bars during transit. Special tape facilitates a solid grip on the handle, and the 4 footbrakes enable the cart to stay in place when being loaded and unloaded. The operator can engage the most accessible brakes to achieve this – it is not necessary to have all four wheels braked.
Hamilton Plastex wheels are easy rolling for the operator, minimizing the push/pull forces and provide ergonomic benefit. Additionally, they will not cause wear to the factory floor. Open frame construction permits maximum structural strength and minimal weight, adding to the ergonomic benefits for manually moved equipment.
