Have a blast with this low-rider rail cart

When a Pennsylvania-based maker of turbochargers, compressors, and cryogenic pumps opened a brand-new refurbishment facility, they ran into a pretty tight spot. Literally.

The company needed to move massive cryogenic tanks, turbines, and other industrial heavyweights in and out of an enclosed cleaning booth. The catch? The booth’s door offered limited vertical clearance, and the workspace itself left little room for error. They needed a custom Hamilton trailer with an ultra-low deck height—without sacrificing the strength to handle a 50-ton payload.

At first glance, our solution might look like a classic rail cart. But under the hood, it’s all muscle where it matters. To keep the deck height low enough to glide under the booth’s door, Hamilton engineers pulled off some sweet design moves—like integrating the frame and wheel sides into a single, seamless piece. Tight wheel spacing keeps the cart compact and stable, while still allowing it to carry serious weight.

Another nice touch: holes punched right through the deck itself. Since the trailer’s job is to ferry parts into a blasting booth, these perforations let the cleaning medium—sand, grit, or whatever gets sprayed—fall straight through to the shop floor, keeping the deck clear and maintenance hassle-free.

Need your own heavy-duty solution for a new facility or a tricky workspace? Our custom team loves a challenge.

Especially if it means blasting past limits while keeping productivity on track.
